NEW EAST ARCHIVE

Maria Ermolenko – Flesh of Flesh

Through a contemporary vision, this photographic series reimagines old Russian customs. The pictures present a distinctive viewpoint on legacy by fusing mysticism with unfiltered emotion. I valued this project because it demonstrated how traditions change while staying true to their core values by bridging the gap between the past and modern interpretations. Its visual narrative is very moving and eerie.

Masha Grigoryeva – Changing Chelyabinsk

This initiative highlights the tenacity and quest for pleasure of the people who live in Chelyabinsk, a city that is frequently vilified for its industrial gloom. The photographs give the room a human touch while highlighting how vibrant people can be in spite of difficult circumstances. This piece’s capacity to depict optimism and change in unexpected places inspired me.

Dmitry Ermakov – River Under Earth

This photographic series explores Russia’s surviving pagan customs and contrasts them with contemporary cultural features. The pictures are powerful and provide insights into a spiritual realm that is frequently obscured by modern life. This study was interesting to me because it illuminated lost histories and demonstrated how these archaic customs still shape identity today.
